Q: After the AVL-900 has been installed, why is there no response?
- Check if the polarity of the power connection is correct; wrong polarity will result in the AVL-900 not powering up and could damage the device.
- Check the power is switched on.
- Check the memory for SMS messages on the SIM card to see if it is full (If so empty it).
- Make sure all diverts have been de-activated on the SIM card.
- Make sure SIM PIN has been switched off.

Q: Why does the AVL-900 fail to get a GSM signal?
- Check if the SIM card is PIN protected (If so remove the SIM PIN)
- Check if the SIM card is correctly installed.
- Did you switch off the power before installing the SIM card? (If not, switch device off/on again).
- Is the vehicle parked in a place where the GSM signal is weak?
- Does the GSM signal of the mobile phone/PC used for tracking have a weak signal?
- Has this SIM card in the AVL-900 been suspended? (such as forgotten to pay the bill or it has no credit on it…)

Q: Why can’t the GPS calculate the position?
- Check that the GPS antenna is correctly installed and is placed in the proper position.
- Make sure there are no metallic materials including windshield heat covers shielding the AVL-900 GPS antenna - which may block the reception of the GPS signal.
- Do not park your vehicle under thick shielding such as trees, bushes or under concrete buildings.
- If necessary, put the GPS antenna outside the vehicle temporarily.

Q: Why does the GPS positioning take such a long time?
The time it takes for a GPS positioning can be affected by the weather, distribution of clouds, roadside trees, elevated roads, nearby high buildings, heat insulating papers containing metal elements, and even covering by the hands - factors that may influence the reception quality of satellite signals. Positioning a vehicle in an idle state takes less time than positioning when the vehicle is in motion.

Q: Does the weather affect GPS operation?
GPS satellite positioning signals consist of short waves that are not affected by weather conditions. GPS signals may however produce error factors during transmission as a result of solar wind, earth rotation, variation of aerosphere density, building reflection, etc.

Q: Why is the position SMS sometimes late?
GSM networks can sometimes become very busy and when this happens your SMS is stacked in a queue and its transmission delayed.
